Our Story

Hi! We're Rim and Lys. Sisters, French and American, born in the United States and raised with one foot in each country.

Our mother is one of twelve, from a small town on the Mediterranean called La Seyne-sur-Mer. Growing up, we spent long stretches of every year in her mother country, in her town, in Marseille, in Aix, in Paris, surrounded by a family large enough that we are still meeting cousins.

The center of all of it was our grandmother's kitchen. She had cooked for our grandfather's restaurant and for her own twelve children, and by the time we came along, feeding the people she loved was simply what she did. It was how she showed love. She taught us her recipes so we could carry them forward.

The one we waited for, always, was her dark chocolate mousse. She would make it in the morning and we'd let it set in the fridge all day. While it set, we'd disappear into the woods behind her house to gather pine nuts, bring them back in our pockets, and she'd caramelize them that night to spoon over the top. Velvety, dark, and worth the wait. A small ceremony built around the people you cherish.

When we came home to the States, we were mousseless. We made our own when we could, but a jar of imported pudding is not the same as something your grandmother made that you waited all day for.

La Maison Nuage, Nuage Mousse, is our way of bringing that ritual home. The same depth and texture we grew up on, made with whole, functional foods, and the kind of ingredients that mean you can have it every day if you want to.
