We're Rim and Lys, sisters born in North Carolina to a French mother who grew up one of twelve kids in a small Mediterranean town called La Seyne-sur-Mer. For years, we spent long stretches of our summers on both sides of the Atlantic, exploring Marseille, Aix, Paris, and beyond, surrounded by a family so large we still meet new relatives every time we visit.

The real heart of everything was our grandmother's sun-washed kitchen. Feeding twelve children and cooking for her husband's restaurant was how she lived. By the time we came along, feeding the people she loved was her way of showing it. She didn't just hand us recipes like instructions; she cooked with her whole heart, and that spirit is what we wanted to carry forward.

As kids, the thing we longed for most was her dark chocolate mousse. In the cool morning light, she'd make it with us, then let it set slowly in the fridge while the long summer day stretched on. While it rested, we'd disappear into the woods behind her house to gather pine nuts, stuffing them into our pockets like treasure. Those nuts became the sweet bridge between gathering and tasting. We learned that good things take time. And when the hour finally came, she'd caramelize them to spoon right over the top. The mousse was always velvety, dark, and rich. A quiet little ceremony where the waiting made it all the sweeter.

When we came back to the States, we found ourselves… mousseless. Longing for that balance of lightness and decadence. We searched everywhere, but a jar of pudding can't replace something made with intention, something your grandmother made, something you waited the whole day for.

La Maison Nuage, and our Nuage Mousse, is our attempt at bringing that ritual home. We make it with wholesome, nourishing ingredients, so it's as good for you as it is delicious.
